LIght Sentence for Pronger?

Until we get a fixed set of rules from the league on what amounts to what kind of suspension, every single one will remain in question.

8 games for Pronger may seem like a lot if you credit that he was just trying to get loose, and very light if you think it was intentional.

I think he gets off light, but for a different reason. If he hadn't taken a substantial suspension now, he would have been constantly suspended in the playoffs for every minor thing.

Comments:
You cant reasonably expect a fixed set of rules for how long suspensions are because suspensions are unique events. They are unusual circumstances and it isn't possible to plan for every possible unusual circumstance in any meaningful way.

I think Proner's suspension is about right (second try for the NHL to make it right) and Chris Simon got way too long earlier.

The lesson is when you unfairly throw the book at a fringe player, you look bad when a star does a similar thing.
